5 Must-Read Networking Books

There are several ways to become a better connector…and you are obviously interested in learning how to do just that…or you wouldn’t be here 🙂

You could learn by trial and error.  Difficult and slow.

You could learn by watching online trainings on networking.  I’d suggest John Corcoran’s coming up.

You could learn by purchasing online courses.  Again, John Corcoran’s is top notch.

You could also hire a coach to help you accomplish your networking goals.  If this interests you, send me an email and we can discuss my coaching packages.

However one of the best (and cheapest) ways to learn to be a better connector is by learning from recognized authorities in the networking space.

And the best way to do that is by reading their books.

Today I want to share with you five of the best books on networking and connecting you can find…plus a way to get ALL of them for free (yes, I said free…).

So read on.

How To Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie

How to Win Friends and Influence People is classic book on relationships and networking.  If you haven’t read this book, it is a MUST READ!   If you have read it, but haven’t read it in the past year, you should read it again.  I  have personally read this book several times over.

This book is over 80 years old, but the wisdom is timeless.  You’ll learn things like “The Big Secret of Dealing with People”, “A Simple Way to Make a Good First Impression”, “A Sure Way of Making Enemies — And How to Avoid It”, “How to Get Cooperation”, “If You Must Find Fault, This is The Way to Begin” and much, much more.

This book ALONE has been priceless to my networking efforts.

Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi

I absolutely LOVE this book.  Keith is a networker’s networker.  The guy is a living example of how you can leverage your personal network to succeed in your chosen career.

The thing that I really love about Keith and this book is the fact that he focuses heavily on the fact that at it’s heart, networking is about figuring out how YOU can make other people successful.  It is this focus on adding value that really made me love this book.

Keith will teach you how to “Become a member of the Club”, “How to build your network before you need it”, the importance of following up, and the art of making small talk.

Networking is a Contact Sport by Joe Sweeney

I came across this book almost by accident…and I’m glad I did!  This book is absolutely crammed full of relevant, easy to apply networking know-how.  And there all things that Joe has used to become extremely successful in his own right!

Again, it has a theme of the importance of giving without any thought of what might be in it for you (are you seeing a pattern in the books I like??).

Joe shares his awesome 5/10/15 program for growing your network.  This program is a GREAT way to break down your networking efforts so you can track your progress and keep yourself accountable!

Joe also has a bunch of great sports stories and analogies, so if you’re into sports, you’ll love this book!

New Business Networking by Dave Delaney

Full disclosure, Dave is a friend of mine.  That in no way changes my opinion of his book…as a matter of fact, it makes me like it even more — because I’ve seen him employ the tips and strategies in the book in person!

I can tell you that when I finally met Dave in person last fall, he did not disappoint in his ability to engage me in conversation and continue developing a friendship in person!

The cool thing is, Dave’s networking advice in this book focuses on how to grow and develop relationships using technology.  This is an important part of your networking plan as more and more businesses, jobs and careers span across states, time zones, countries and even continents.

Let Dave teach you how to harness technology to grow your network exponentially.

How To Be A Power Connector by Judy Robinett

If ever there was a power connector, it is Judy.  I’ve had the opportunity to chat with her a few times and have been blown away with her ability to talk intelligently about any number of topics.

I love how she ties networking into achieving your goals and career success, without forgetting the importance of serving and adding value to others.  This is her entire playbook. She shares proven ways to reach even unreachable people, how to get anyone’s contact info quickly, and much, much more.

You will also learn her 5 + 50 + 100 rule for developing and maintaining your network.  That information alone will be invaluable to you!

This book is worth every penny you’ll pay for it, but I would love to send it to you for FREE — learn how you can WIN this book, and the others listed above here.
